Happy February

Posted by baby ele on February 2, 2008

Dear Readers,

My goodness, days fly by so fast and I can’t believe its february!

Time is zooming by and I have yet to see any amazing results from work, its super discouraging. But I’ll keep at it.
It was really nice to have Grace over last week, we didn’t do much, actually, I basically invited her into my bubble and she lived my bubble life of work, home and shopping for 7 days! She survived! We didn’t go crazy and do all the tourist-y things, shop only, spa only.

We did volunteer to give Polio vaccinations to 2000 children (Wednesday, January 24rd)

Here are some pictures:

Although it was an incredibly nice effort by the Rotary club, I have to be critical and tell you all that the organisation was REALLY LOUSY!!! We arrived there and it was basically like
Man1: You want to go to the schools or communities?
Mom: Schools
Man1: Okay go in this van.
Then…he jumps into another van and we are like, HUH??? Then 2 nurses enter our van and we are off. Then when we reach the kindergardens, they give us a vile of orange medicine, and attached to the vile is a eyedropper nozzle (in retrospect I should had taken a photo of it)
The nurse spoke only thai, so all i heard and saw was …
Nurse1: *squeezing vile action* *number 2 hand signal*
Me: Okok
Then, when I had my first baby in front of me (5 years old chubby boy) I squirt twice and there was still medicine in the vile, and i was like, huh?? And I give him another squirt, but the bottle still didn’t run out! Then I looked at Dad, and he was giving 2 DROPS, and I looked at the nurse who then gave me a thumbs up and said 2.
Oh Shoot! I just overdosed the poor baby! LOL!! *laughing and burying my head in shame*
So funny, when i realised this i quickly pushed him to the nurse who was handing out cookies. Aie yo. And on average I gave 8 vaccinations per medicine vile, and when we were having lunch with the nurses, they told us on average one medicine vile has 18 vaccinations!
Gah!
But its been a week, and there has been no articles in the newspaper about poisoned children, so for that I am thankful.
Gotta go back to work,
Stacy
