Facebook quizzes…

Posted by baby ele on May 25, 2009

Dear Readers,

I’ve been quite adamant about not participating in facebook quizzes because they just give facebook insight to your personality and they sell that information to marketers. EVIL!!!

But, I couldn’t help try it out today, because Dianna posted on her profile, “Who is your ideal match?” And I was kinda curious who was my type, because her type sounded really really nice. And it turns out, when I took the quiz I got the same answer as her. “Ambitious and Driven”

Your perfect match is someone who values success, is a natural born leader and constantly works hard to improve themselves and their life. They will deeply appreciate your ability to make them feel special. This type of person loves admiration and your giving, loving and wonderfully kind nature will make you their perfect mate. Your match also enjoys biking, hiking, working out and eating healthy–taking care of their body is a priority to them and they always look their best. This person will always protect you and keep your best interests at heart- they really want to go the extra mile to make you happy. The top traits they are looking for in a mate is loyalty and trustworthiness. They love a good challenge and are visionaries. This can hinder them when falling in love because they are very driven to find “the one” and won’t settle for less. However, once they fall in love with you, they will be very affectionate and are enthusiastic about the relationship..
Dianna and I are so alike, hahah, oh shoot, I hope no competition! But looks wise, we have superly different tastes.
Well from that first test, I just kept on spiralling and spiralling to take more and more tests.I remembered Richard asked me what type of inner nationality am I? And so I took that, and I’m Swedish!

And I took a quiz to find which country I should live in,  (2 quizzes actually) and I got Moscow and Poland.  I was hoping that somehow my answer would say something like, “Toronto”, so Moscow was a huge surprise.

“…  … …”

Oh and apparently I’m very addictive “You are the Addiction Everyone Crazes” (woohoo!)….and I scored 100% in the “How well do you know Men” test!

Man that was the most ghetto quiz. The questions were like,

“How many times do men think about sex?”
My answer: Everytime his mind wanders off

” What is the most happiest moment in a Man’s life?”
My answer: Holding his baby.

Things like that, really predictable. And the funniest weirdest thing was, I took the “How well do you know women?” test, and I scored 50%! Hmmph!

Anyhoo, I have so many things to write up, but here I am diddle daddle-ling, scrolling down this endlist quiz list, and going against my values by giving this facebook application access to my profile. Ugh…

Oh as I am writing this blog post, in my other explorer tab I am taking the “What’s your geek level?” Result: 6/10 drama queen!

Not quite geeky enough yet. Its all about you, and looking the part, naturally.

Say what? I think I am a certified geek. Hmm, maybe I’m not, in that case I hope opposites attract, you all know how I like my men a little dweeby. 😛

I think I am really sweet, because the mosquitos are loving me, I think I have over 100 bites!!!

Thanks for stopping by,
Stacy

Old mix tapes

Posted by baby ele on May 23, 2009

Dear Readers,

Today we found an old TDK tape in the car, popped it in, and immediately “September” from Earth Wind and Fire starts to play. Woohoo!

I had such a blast from the past experience today, singing and dancing along to each song. I think that tape was from 2003,  September, Grease Medley, and John Mellencamp’s WILD NIGHTS!!! (click to play!) Does anyone remember that song? It is so fabulous!

Anyways I had such a happy afternoon, so I am suggesting all of you to uncover your collection of mixed tapes, and start playing them.

Oh and don’t forget to have a dance break too 🙂

Dancing to my retro playlist,
Stacy

Thoughts on Swine Flu

Dear Readers,

I know that this swine flu business is old news. But I just had to share a Winnie-the-Pooh story with you, given to me by Michelle.

Have a laugh!

Life is Never Boring with Ms. Kanyarat S.!!

Posted by baby ele on May 7, 2009

Dear Readers,

I met Jeab for dinner today. We met at Silom Complex, and then proceeded to walk on Silom Road to Covent Road for dinner at this Thai restaurant – BUA.

Dinner was alright, have to admit that the grilled pork was extremely dry, (I like my meat a little fatty and tender!) And in walks in these group of women, at one glance I can pinpoint where they are from – HK!!!! Super sporty-frumpy, unfitted tshirt with baggy shorts and flipflops.

Seriously? So when you come to Bangkok you lose all your sense of fashion? Once they sat down, and started to speak Cantonese, I smiled at myself, what an accurate guess!

Jeab suggested that we walk to Silom Village for drinks….WALK THERE. Soi Covent is Silom Soi 3, and Silom Village is Soi 19, which means basically a 20 minute walk. I almost fainted at the idea. I was really frightened at the idea of walking to Soi 19, so she said she would take me to a coffee shop in Surasak (which is the street behind Silom Road). Granted, I do live in a bubble and I don’t walk on the streets of Bangkok much, I could be overexaggerating just a tad?

As we exited the restaurant, there is a row of hawker stalls, people eating, lots of stools blocking the sidewalk, and then…a barricade…huh? I look up, and I see a group of 6 men in military uniform. How randomly exciting!

And guess what, we walked through PAT PONG to get to Surasak!! Omg…Pat Pong…a strip of …strip clubs…with big open doors so you can see the girls pole dancing if you look up. My eyes were focused mainly on the floor. And randomly in PAT PONG – Bangkok’s red light district, there is a brightness…warm yellow lights..(as opposed to pink, green blue neon..) NARAYA! I can’t believe they would have a store in PatPong!

I guess it makes some sense, let the boys go out to play, and the women go to shopping at Naraya?

At the opening of Patpong Street to Surasak Road, a crowd was gathering, and there were policemen there, had no idea what was going on there…We crossed the street and walked towards the left, and the sidewalk? There is no sidewalk! just a strip of street food, and in retrospect, I wish we tried it, everyone raves about Bangkok street food and I have yet to try it out. tsk tsk?

The scariest thing was this grilled squid vendor who parked his stall..basically on the sidewalk, and Jeab just breezed by him like it was no big deal, and I was scared for my life because I felt the heat on my skin, and I was this close to getting another scarring arm burn.

After drinks, we went to find a Bangkok Bank ATM nearby her house, and instead of flagging down a cab, we took a tuk-tuk! And as we were wheezing through the streets, with gusts of polluted air and dust particles hitting our faces, I told myself, I have to write about this! And I will title my post “Life is Never Boring with Kanyarat S.!!!!”

Ah…life is really never boring with Ms. Kanyarat S.!!
Cheers to that!

Losing my religion

Posted by baby ele on May 6, 2009

Dear Readers,

You are right, I am not religious so the title of this post is mostly for dramatic effects.
It’s not that I’m losing my religion, I’m losing something, but I can’t pinpoint what it exactly is.

With each passing day, I am becoming more and more numb to things.
Say for example, a few months ago I was really stressing about my chinese incompetency – because I was applying for a very good international management trainee programme.

I submitted my application on the 30th, and got a rejection letter yesterday. What a waste of energy to have been fussing and fretting so much on my language test (which was the final stage.) – only to not even make it pass the ‘submit application’ stage. Tsk tsk, *deep sigh*

It’s like if all roads are forcing me to stay put, all the roads I take lead me back home. Which, I am totally fine with, but am bitter that I was pushed away only to come back dejected and rejected, bruised and battered, basically very deflated.

And the WEIRDEST revelation these past weeks –> how different I used to be, or rather, what people thought of me. I was sharing my recent change in life perspective (aka. ANTI PLANNING) and Mitchell’s response was, ” Yeah wow, you used to be all about the planning!”
And Adrian’s response was, “Yeah, you used to be pretty anal…”

Excusez moi?
hahaha so funny like….wtf? (Oh, Adrian, I love how you say W-T-F instead of saying what-the-fudge, it’s so cute!) my response to Adrian was, “Oh..right…hmm..reallly????”

Anyways – back to my new non-anal approach to life…I don’t see life in terms of timelines, goals, targets…life doesn’t work like that. The idea (or at least my idea) is to be open to whatever gets thrown your way. I have no idea what I am doing with my life. It is as if I am stuck suspended in some jelly mould, not going forward, not going back, just staying put. Like that extremely depressing Japanese doll figure Andrea refused to let me buy.

Oddly enough, I am somewhat content?
I suppose I’ve taken this whole “Live in the Present” resolution to the extreme. As Heather accurately described me, “You are always at EXTREMES!!! Either one end or the other!! NEVER IN THE MIDDLE!!!”

I have to find some motivation back and throw myself out there, because right now I am curling and coiling back into my comfort zone.

Unmotivated and hermitising,
Stacy

P.S. Hermitising – Definition:  The process of becoming a hermit.  (present continuous tense, present tense : hermitise)
Pronounciation – Hermit – tise – ing

I just made that word. Use it!

AWARE wins vote of no confidence

Posted by baby ele on May 2, 2009

Dear Readers,

The Old Guards won! I am so happy! Rushed home to see the results, and we won the vote of no confidence, 1414 For VS 761 Against! The Old Guard put up a good fight, and galvanised so many Singaporean women, (men too, but they can’t vote). I joined the 2 facebook groups, and it is good to read and interact with passionate Singaporeans, Singaporeans who take stances on issues rather than sit on the fences and are afraid to make a judgement.

The reports say there are roughly 3,000 AWARE members now, compared to 300 in March. This means that AWARE has raised around..108,000SGD in the past 2 months, but guess what, the NEW EX-CO (the christian fundamentalists) spent 90,000SGD last month! ARGH MAKES ME SO ANGRY!!!!!!

Now with the Old Guards back in the game, I wonder if my Singapore window has just opened…

Very very happy,
Stacy
